Working with children of all ages, Dr. Jeffrey Lazarus has had
a successful and thriving pediatric practice since
1981. Click here for Dr. Lazarus' curriculum
vitae.
Dr. Lazarus enjoys guiding children and parents toward becoming
confident and self-reliant with regard to health. Families appreciate
his thoroughness, compassion, and warm sense of humor.
Dr. Lazarus became interested in clinical hypnosis as a patient
himself. After trying traditional therapies for plantar warts
without success, Dr. Lazarus recalled that one of his five-year-old
patients had rid himself of hundreds of warts with biofeedback/self-hypnosis.
So he called Dr. Karen Olness, Professor of Pediatrics at Case
Western Reserve School of Medicine and co-author of the premier
book in the field of pediatric hypnotherapy, Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
with Children, co-authored with Daniel P. Kohen, M.D., Professor,
Departments of Pediatrics, Family Practice, & Community Health
at the University of Minnesota .
Dr. Olness taught him the technique of self-hypnosis, and within
three weeks, his own warts disappeared- never to return.
Dr. Lazarus has applied Dr. Olness' work to teach hundreds of
children this remarkable technique. He uses clinical hypnosis
to treat conditions such as warts, migraine
headaches, bedwetting, Tourette
Syndrome, pain, tics,
habits, phobias, insomnia, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
and test anxiety, as well as for sports
performance enhancement, weight loss, and prevention
of nausea and vomiting for patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Clinical hypnosis is now an integral part of Dr. Lazarus' pediatric
practice. As one of only 13 pediatricians in the United States
to be certified by The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis,
he has developed his own specialized methods for treating specific
childhood health concerns such as primary nocturnal enuresis
(bedwetting), migraines, and Tourette Syndrome. He lectures all
over the country on the topic of clinical hypnosis.
